At least 44 cause-related cycling rides raised more than $1 million each in 2017, according to a study by Cadence Sports and the Peer-to-Peer Professional Forum.
This first-of-its-kind study goes deep into exploring individual events to disclose which rides were members of the “Million Dollar Club” which is topped by the Pan-Mass Challenge, a single weekend event that brought in a jaw-dropping $56.5 million in 2017.
Topping the just-released Million Dollar Club list are 10 rides that have been dubbed “The Breakaway Group” for their industry-leading fundraising achievements.
They are:
- The Pan-Mass Challenge (Massachusetts) — $56.5 million
- Pelotonia (Ohio) — $26.2 million
- AIDS/LifeCycle (California) — $15.2 million
- BP MS 150 (Texas) — $14.7 million
- Rodman Ride for Kids (Massachusetts) — $12.4 million
- Bike 4 Chai (New York) — $8.4 million
- Miami Dolphins Challenge (Florida) — $6 million
- Best Buddies Challenge (Massachusetts) — $6 million
- Bike MS: City to Shore (Pennsylvania) — $4.7 million
- Best Buddies Challenge (California) — $4.5 million
