In the United States there are more than 80 million people between the ages of 20-30. This generation, Millennials, spend more than $300 billion each year in consumer discretionary goods. What does that mean for your run/race/walk? There is opportunity to involve them to raise money and spread the word about your cause. The latest Millennial Impact Report released data about this generation’s involvement and there is exciting news – 63% of Millennials have raised money for a run/race/walk.
Hear from Derrick Feldmann, lead researcher of the Millennial Impact Project, about the generation and how they are connecting with causes, fundraising, and using run/race/walks as an outlet to engage their peers. Amanda Napolitano, Executive Director of 26.2 with Donna Foundation, will also speak about her organization’s involvement with this generation and some tips and tactics to get them involved.

Derrick Feldman leads the research team on the Millennial Impact Project (themillennialimpact.com) – the most comprehensive research initiative to understand how the Millennial generation connects, involves, and gives. He coauthored – Cause for Change: The Why and How of Nonprofit Millennial Engagement published by Jossey Bass/Wiley. He is a speaker on the latest trends in fundraising, marketing for nonprofit organizations, and Millennial cause engagement. Derrick is a writer for Philanthropy News Digest of the Foundation Center and the Huffington Post IMPACT channel, a member of the Leadership Faculty of the Points of Light Corporate Institute, and a guest lecturer for the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. Derrick received is graduate degree from the School of Philanthropy at Indiana University and is a board member of the International Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Amanda Napolitano is the Executive Director of the 26.2 with Donna Foundation, responsible for the vision and management of all 26.2 with Donna events. An avid runner, Amanda is a founding member of 26.2 with Donna and in partnership with Chris Twiggs, leads the Jacksonville Galloway Training Program. In 2008, Amanda and Chris were awarded the ‘Spirit of Galloway’ award from Jeff Galloway for their work with the Marathon. Prior to joining the marathon staff, Amanda Napolitano was an Account Director for IDEA, a specialized practice within Idea Integration focused on interactive agency services. Amanda joined IDEA in 2000 as a Project Manager, and held numerous leadership positions with the company. Amanda holds a BS in Technical Communication from Mercer University in Macon, GA. She is a member of The Society for Technical Communication, Jacksonville AMA, and is a Committee Member of the Gator Bowl Association. Amanda is also an active member of The Church of Eleven22.
