When MAPS set out to create a campaign on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo last October to raise money to support psychedelic therapy research, it set what it thought was an aggressive goal: $50,000.
Sixty days later, the organization had raised nearly three times that total.
Thanks, in part, to videos that explained the therapy and its results, MAPS and its supporters were able to collect donations from nearly 1,700 individual donors from 40 countries.
“It’s not exactly peer to peer, but we had 60 percent new donors and we believe that those folks came from our current donors and newsletter recipients sharing the campaign with others,” says Virginia Wright, MAPS’ director of development.
Check out the video above to see how MAPS used the medium to tell its story and connect with potential donors. The video has received nearly 30,000 views on YouTube.
Thanks to Virginia Wright for sharing this example.
Does your organization have a peer-to-peer fundraising video? Has one of your supporters taken the time to create his or her own video? If so, we’d love to share it with the rest of the peer-to-peer fundraising community.
