The Volatility of Ideas

2020 was undeniably tough, but Parkinson Canada did come away with valuable lessons that will influence its 2021 programs no matter what path the pandemic takes. Parkinson Canada’s Amanda Stanton shares insights on topics including supporter engagement and the power of physical and digital “walk in a box” kits.

Instead of simply “virtualizing” its walk, Kids Help Phone turned its annual event into The Never Dance Alone-A-Thon Powered by BMO. The mental health organization’s Elena Manica will describe how they managed to raise “joy” and funds and how others can learn from the progress they made in evolving their P2P programming.

Finally, we’ll garner insights into the year ahead by generating a forecast via an instant poll.

Wednesday, March 3rd

Conquer The Sector Summits!

Take advantage of this opportunity to explore specific types of peer-to-peer fundraising during this fascinating series of gatherings.

11:00 - 12:15 PM

The Cycling Summit

Summit leader Gary Metcalf of Cadence Sports will help us explore the changing dynamics of our industry and share new sector research. We’ll get to know colleagues and talk shop during a fun, small group icebreaker activity.

In spite of the pandemic, Chai Lifeline’s Yoel Margolese and his team figured out how to hold a 475 person ride that raised over $7.6 million in August. Hear what worked for Bike4Chai and the strategies they plan to employ in 2021.

In 2020, the Fred Hutch Obliteride transformed from a weekend in-person event to a chance for supporters to do any activity from home — and 3,000 people (hailing from all 7 continents!) answered the call to raise $3.1 million. Obliteride’s Jim Birrell shares the story behind the story.

We’ll close our gathering with an online poll that will tap our collective insights to generate a cycling peer-to-peer fundraising forecast.

11:00 - 12:15 PM

The Endurance Summit

Summit leader Brandon Wilmoth, a veteran of Autism Speaks, St. Jude and LLS, kicks us off with an analysis of where we’ve been and where we’re going.

A fun icebreaker activity will empower conversations between you and endurance colleagues from other organizations.

No one experimented with more new formats in 2020 than the American Cancer Society’s Paul Purdy. He’ll join us to share what worked – and what didn’t.

What can we expect from the event organizers that endurance fundraising depends on so heavily? Bryan Lively, a Running USA board member and the Detroit Marathon charity director, shares the latest.

Finally, an anonymous online poll will generate an instant endurance peer-to-peer fundraising forecast.

PLEASE NOTE: ATTENDING THE ENDURANCE SUMMIT REQUIRES A SEPARATE ZOOM LOGIN LINK WHICH YOU’LL FIND BY CLICKING THE BUTTON BELOW!

12:30 - 1:45 PM

The Hospitals Summit

DonorDrive’s Buck Rumely kicks us off with new survey data on the state of hospital peer-to-peer fundraising.

Breaking into small discussion groups will enable us to explore how other institutions are dealing with the pandemic and develop some new industry allies.

City of Hope’s Alyson Sprafkin will share a case study of the 2020 Walk for Hope with lessons including the critical importance of catering to internal audiences.

It’s easy to toss strategic plans out the window when everything seemingly has changed in the world of COVID. Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s Elyse Meardon will suggest ways in which to effectively work the plan and plan the work no matter what external crises erupt.

Don’t miss the chance to join your colleagues in creating a sector forecast through our instant poll.

2:00 - 3:15 PM

The DIY/Virtual Summit

The Covid-19 outbreak massively accelerated the importance of virtual P2P programs. Tiltify’s Robyn Mendez will kick off our session by exploring how successful programs thrive on creating active, engaged digital communities. Next hear from Best Friends Animal Society’s Caitlin Watkins on the innovative ways they are using new social channels like TikTok, as well as, the old favorites like Facebook to attract new donors and raise funds in the middle of the pandemic.

Get to know other members of the DIY/Virtual P2P community by breaking up into small groups.

United Way Worldwide’s Edwin Goutier and Red Nose Day’s Mary Catherine Burdine will showcase how they raised $1.9M in March from 72,000 donors across 133 countries on World Health Day as part of the #HopeFromHome campaign and how Red Nose Day replicated this strategy in December to raise an additional $4.7M for their #Thankmas campaign.

We’ll leverage an instant poll to channel our collective wisdom on some of the pressing issues facing this sector.

3:30 - 4:45 PM

The Walk Summit

GoodUnited’s Maria Clark sets the stage for our gathering by focusing on the human and technological factors that are key to our sector’s future success.

We’ll break into small groups to compare notes on P2P fundraising and expand our networks.

How do you keep your team (and volunteers) motivated when the world seems to be falling apart around us? Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s Kevin Sims will offer ideas you can replicate to keep spirits and productivity high even under challenging circumstances!

No organization has answers to all the problems plaguing our sector, but a number have figured out big pieces of the puzzle. American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Nicole Dolan shares her scan of the industry to let you in on “Five Success Strategies I Learned During The Pandemic.”

2020 Spring and Fall events were turned on their collective heads because of the pandemic, resulting in significant lost revenue for most organizations. Join American Cancer Society’s Dan Thorpe as he details how ACS broke the mold by executing a highly successful, totally virtual event series.

Help generate a forecast for peer-to-peer fundraising walks in 2021 by participating in an instant poll.

The Virtual Grand Finale!
